Movin’ on Up…the Fishway

Migrating ain’t easy, and sometimes our scaled friends need a little help. That’s why the Fairmount Dam, as well as countless other migratory streams and rivers throughout the world are equipped with fishways to help with the journey upstream. Check up this awesome diagram of Fairmount’s fish ladder (it’s big!) as well as this video of a Striper cruising through the fishway. Now grab some eels and get out there!

First Keeper Caught!

Opening day for stripers was March 1st, and already there are reports of people hooking up. Nick Nastasi takes the honors with a 18.2-pounder. This may have been in New Jersey, but it gets me excited for the rest of season.

Check out the story here.

Welcome to the Derby!

In a mere 46 days the most anticipated fishing event in Philadelphia will begin. Not since Albert Mcreynolds pulled the devil from the deep, capturing the world record title for largest striper, has such a contest of wills been joined. May our love of rockfish and Philadelphia bring us together for what will surely be an event rooted in fun and fellowship that is talked about for years (or at least one year til we do it again) to come. May the best and/or luckiest angler win! Tight lines to all!!

(PS…Check out the rules, prizes, and entrance fees!)
